November is Native American Heritage Month. During this month, we celebrate the traditions, languages and stories of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and affiliated Island communities and ensure their rich histories and contributions continue to thrive.

Join us for this fun event on October 21! Our Living History Players will dress as figures from Josephine County's past and tell us about their lives. This event is kid friendly and will happen rain or shine. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or at the research library.

Check out the interior of McGregor's Five & Ten located at the corner of 6th and I Streets. The store was open between 1939 and 1986 but a couple posters in the picture date it to between 1942-43! #History #josephinecounty

Throwback Thursday: Grants Pass Post Office in 1929. A little different looking from what we have now!

There once was a town called Mountain, OR. It was located north of Grants Pass for about five years and was only inhabited by a few families. One of those families was the Burnhams. This is a picture of their cabin's kitchen and pantry from around 1908.

@coastalluver @FBIPortland Yes, she was buried under a tree just over the creek. The tree has since been removed due to construction.

@coastalluver @FBIPortland Martha Leland Crowley (part of the first wagon train to open the Applegate Trail) died and is buried along its banks in 1846.
