@pblest Dikembe Mutombo was the best defensive player in the league and was the different between them consistently losing early in the playoffs and becoming a finals team. I actually think Mutombo has a solid case for top 50-75 all-time.
@BillSimmons Brunson didn't even have a great finals. He had one great game and one good game and three mediocre ones. I still think OG deserved FMVP for his defensive work. But media voters really just care about the clinching game.
@patmart100 @Alejandro947174 @ManaByte It was maybe the single most hyped game of my entire childhood along with maybe Pokemon Yellow at the peak of pokemania (1999 was a big year). I was a huge fan of DKC 1-3 and 64 was bringing it in 3 dimensions.
In the end I had fun with it for at least several dozen hours.
@patmart100 @Alejandro947174 @ManaByte I think 2001/2002 Rare was disappointing. Starfox Adventures was just ok and Conker's Bad Fur Day was very impressive (especially graphically) at the time but aged quite poorly. The disney racing game was worse than DKR.
I'll stand by their 1999/2000 output mostly being great
@patmart100 @Alejandro947174 @ManaByte I don't think it's as good as most of the Country games or Jungle Beat (which I hold in very high regard), but I will defend the gameplay loop of DK64 and the level design. I also think the game generally has a ton of charm. I'm also highly biased and very nostalgic for it.
@patmart100 @Alejandro947174 @ManaByte I enjoyed Perfect Dark substantially more. Granted I was 10 when it came out but it felt like a huge leap over Goldeneye. Whenever I go back to play one of these on N64 I prefer Perfect Dark. But this is generally my opinion (which critics at the time shared).
@patmart100 @Alejandro947174 @ManaByte I loved DK64 and thought it was a great merger of Banjo-Kazooie and DKC. The hatred for DK64 is incredibly overblown.
I do think Banjo-Tooie was a very good game that was also substantially worse than Banjo-Kazooie.
Perfect Dark>>>>Goldeneye
@Steve_0314 I was wrong obviously. Bummed but at least they beat the Celtics. Hopeful for some improvements from VJ next year and Maxey to fully heal and play better. Embiid was the only guy who showed up today consistently.
@Steve_0314@KnicksAddiction@TommyBeer The Sixers just whooped a 56 win team and won 3 road games. You're underestimating them. Barring injury, I don't really see either side making this a short series.
@mus_toyy That's like 125-195k USD. Basically no renters in the US have that in ready cash to lend to a landlord.
No wonder Korea has a staggeringly low birth rate, this system sounds horrible and a great way to keep young adults in suspended childhood.
@DanWolken Ban trading picks with any protections. The problem would be at least half solved. Plus it would make picks much more valuable by default which would encourage GMs to stop making short-sighted decisions to save their jobs.
@0Four6@MediJo20 He's the all-time leader in minutes played and nobody else besides Kareem and Karl Malone are even in the same stratosphere of minutes played. Fourth place is 8500 minutes behind. That's like four seasons worth of games playing very long (36 min) starter minutes.
@SkellyFreaks @j3sotos@KevinOConnor@jjmaples55 Orlando? They are pretty good though. They probably should trade Banchero for more shooting but they are hardly terrible.
@cbain100 More development time for VJ, an upgrade on McCain and maybe Drummond. But the big issue is power forward. Both guys would be solid backups on a great team.
The team is on two different timelines but given Embiid's comeback, I feel pretty good overall
@uncledanny24 The problem is beyond just basketball. Ja, Ant, and Zion all have very messy personal lives to put it lightly. None of them seem like good people off the court.
Tatum and Cade are the best and actually marketable American players. Maxey and Brunson not too far behind imo.
@EudaimoniaEsq Yeah college football just isn't a thing here. I literally never hear people talk about it. College sports in general aren't very popular in NJ (where I live) or Long Island (where I grew up).
