I never gave a shit about the original Top Gun, and I consider Maverick one of the best films of 2022 because of the incredible filmmaking, not because of nostalgia
Luca Guadagnino says ‘TOP GUN: MAVERICK’ is a “very bad movie.”
He says people liked it “because the economy of nostalgia right seems to be the only commodity that can be dominated by all types of markets.”

Destin Daniel Cretton, you are my only hope.
I began worrying about this back when homecoming began the trend of vagueness, so I can't say Im surprised if they push this as canon. It's just extremely unfortunate and makes the character much, much worse.
Joe Russo says Peter Parker wasn’t responsible for Uncle Ben's death in the MCU.
“If he blamed himself for his Uncle Ben's death, I think he becomes a very different character… That would have been a different interpretation. A more intense interpretation of the character."

@eileenv21@makopuffies@mqlevens I think thats a valid interpretation too! I personally understand the closing off of all supernatural elements to indicate things are truly over, besides my biggest problem with S5 is lack of meaningful character deaths, so Im taking the El sacrifice as the closest thing I got.
@makopuffies@eileenv21@mqlevens I think they're absolutely valid in this statement.
Maybe watch more actual movies/tv about abused and flawed people that dont feel like they should pander to an audience that has no media literacy because they wont watch anything that makes them uncomfortable.
@eileenv21@makopuffies@mqlevens narratively? Its basic good storytelling. When a character dies afterwards the people closest to them should be the ones focused on and developed.
ethically? Yeah lil dubious but I think the shows biggest problem is how sanitized it became for mass appeal
@abbystrawberi Actually he should because Percabeth is a good relationship because of all the adversity in the journey getting them together and if the show takes it all out it will be an objectively less interesting relationship than the books
@rulosdehazz@holmesbury Man, considering y'all are being absolute babies about the few deaths that did happen, if the finale had had a realistic amount of deaths, the fanbase would had mass spontaneous combustion
Season 1 is the best season! But if netflix is willing to give the duffers the crazy budget to go big then why not turn it into this huge wacky coming of age horror fantasy show?
5 definitely has problems but theres no subplots I groan watching, (unlike seasons 2, 3, 4)
Stranger Things season 5 is actually really good if you put down your fucking phone and enjoy it for what it is and not what you WANT it to be. This applies to Byler shippers, but Im sorry, it ALSO applies to people who want it to be like season 1.
The reactions to the new Stranger Things kinda just stink of "none of y'all have any media literacy," Because I did not need an article to understand that scene. This show is at its best when it's taking what is expected out of something from the 80s and flipping it on its head.
