During a busy Friday night on August 14, 2026, L’Osteria Mondello, a family-run Italian restaurant in Cheyenne, Wyoming, received a phone order for 18 pizzas totaling about $300. After the kitchen prepared the order, the customer never arrived, and the number used turned out to be fake, revealing a prank intended for social media. Rather than discard the food or pursue a complaint, owner Dave Agovic chose to turn the situation into a community gesture: he donated all 18 pizzas to the emergency department staff at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in recognition of their tireless work saving lives. We’re coming up on a very special Monkees anniversary in September.

The Monkees first aired on NBC on September 12, 1966, and 60 years later, I’ll be in Los Angeles on September 12 with Micky Dolenz Celebrates 60 Years of The Monkees.

I guess that means I have no excuse for forgetting the date!

The next year, the show won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, which was a very nice surprise for a group of people who spent a great deal of time running around, falling over furniture, and trying to look like we knew what was happening.

Catholic Fun Fact: James Earl Jones was a devout Roman Catholic, having converted to the faith in the 1950s during his service in the U.S. Army.
Jones grew up curious about Catholicism because many of his high school classmates practiced it. While serving as an Army Ranger in Colorado, he met a Jesuit chaplain who, as Jones wrote in his autobiography Voices and Silences, "helped me understand who God really was".
While discerning his future career path in the military, Jones famously noted that the only elements of his life "not geared toward the art of killing" were his Catholic faith and the complete works of Shakespeare. In a 1986 television interview, Jones admitted that he briefly considered becoming a Catholic priest during his conversion period, before ultimately dedicating his life to acting.
Before achieving Hollywood fame, Jones utilized his skills in masonry to help physically build a Catholic church in Irons, Michigan. Despite keeping his personal faith mostly private, the EGOT-winning actor regarded his voice recording of the King James version of the New Testament as his "greatest honor". (Would have been better if it had been a Catholic Bible)
Jones passed away at the age of 93 on September 9, 2024. According to reports from the National Catholic Reporter, his death coincided with the Catholic Feast of St. Peter Claver, the patron saint of Black Catholics.

This happened July at Dallas Airport TSA checkpoint. The boy is Noah, 8 years old. Autistic and nonverbal.
The mother is Jennifer. Noah was having a sensory meltdown. Overwhelming security checkpoint noise, crowds, procedures.
Sitting on the floor screaming. Rocking.
Hands hitting his head. Jennifer knelt beside him trying to calm him. Nothing worked. TSA agents tried to help. Made it worse. Travelers walked around staring.
Taking photos. Then a woman approached.
Her name is Patricia, 54. The dog is Max, a
5-year-old German Shepherd. Patricia's
PTSD service dog. Phone camera footage from another traveler shows Patricia wheeling toward Noah in her wheelchair.
Stops ten feet away.
Releases Max's leash.
Max walks to Noah on his own. Lies down.
Presses his body against Noah's side. Deep pressure. Noah's screaming stops immediately. His hands move from hitting his head to gripping Max's fur. The rocking slows. Noah curls against Max. Stays there for eleven minutes. Jennifer watches crying.
Patricia stays back. Doesn't approach. Just lets Max work. When Noah finally calms down and stands, Jennifer approaches Patricia. Says: "How did you know? Thank you." Patricia said: "Max pulled toward Noah. He's my PTSD dog, not trained for autism. But he recognized Noah needed help. I trusted Max's instincts." Jennifer told: "Noah was in full meltdown. I couldn't reach him. TSA couldn't help.
Everyone was staring. Judging. Then this stranger let her service dog comfort my son. Max did in two minutes what I couldn't do in forty. He gave Noah what he needed-pressure and calm." Patricia said: "Max is trained to help me with PTSD. But he knows when others need help too. He's done this before-pulled toward people in distress. I always trust him. Max knew Noah needed him." Noah told his mom later through his communication device: "The dog helped me. The noise stopped hurting when the dog was there." TSA supervisor contacted Patricia and Jennifer afterward.
Commended Patricia for the intervention. Offered Noah priority boarding. Sometimes angels wear service vests and know exactly who needs them.

There are so many people and organizations that the Polk County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge and thank for their part in getting our K9 Ace the help he needed after he was shot by a suspect on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Immediately after he was wounded, Ace was taken to Parkway Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Lakeland where his bleeding was stopped and he was stabilized by Dr. Oscar Aguayo and his team.

Once stabilized, Ace was picked up by Tampa General Hospital’s Aeromed helicopter with pilot Chad Loftin (Metro Aviation), Chief Flight Nurse Tracy Sanderson (TGH), and Flight Paramedic Kenny Switzer (TGH).

Aeromed transported Ace to Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton to be cared for by Dr. Devon Diaz and his team.

Ace is a 7-year-old German Shepherd. He has been with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office since March of 2020.

He was shot in the front left leg. The bullet broke his leg and tore an artery which caused him to lose a lot of blood.

The PCSO is truly grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support from our community. We appreciate the support for our deputies involved last night, and of course for Ace and his well-being.

Many have reached out to the PCSO asking if there was anything they could do.

Prayer to Saint Charbel to ask for health, protection, blessings, and help in difficult times

Beloved Saint Charbel, holy and full of love for God, today I come to you with an open heart and full of hope. You who lived a life of prayer, sacrifice, and total devotion to the Lord, hear my pleas and accompany me in every moment of my life. I ask you to intercede for me before God the Father, so that faith never fails in my heart, peace in my home, and strength to overcome every trial that appears in my path.

Saint Charbel, blessed and protector of those who seek comfort and miracles, I place my concerns, my anxieties, and those situations that seem impossible to resolve in your hands. May divine grace touch every cell of our body, strengthen our lives, and grant us physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. May God grant us healing, strength, and many years full of blessings.

Saint Charbel, man of prayer and miracles, visit my family with your protective love. Keep all sadness, division, envy, and everything that steals our peace away from our home. Bless our doors, our rooms, our work, and every project we undertake. Allow that food never be lacking on our table, family unity, and the presence of God guiding each of our decisions.
