@BeatlemaniaUK The simple answer is the reference to Capitol and EMI. This was after Capitol's purchase of United Artists Records, who had held the soundtrack rights. The original cover also had Phil Spector's name in capitals. Apple was stated to be an ABCKO company. And it was a gatefold.
@McCMugwump@BeatlemaniaUK The original here is the Dutch release. IIRC, the original US release was a gatefold with photos from the sessions inside. On the back, Phil Spector was spelt out in capitals, and there was a reference to Apple being an ABCKO managed company. From memory fifty years ago!
@Knowledgepoint@ArabDas31313 That will have been the VHF Band III channel it was transmitted on. Up to about the mid sixties, tellies had to be tuned manually to the right channel. BBC one was usually on a Band I channel, 1 to 5. ITV on a Band III channel, 6 to 13. BBC two was launched in the UHF bands.
@BeatlemaniaUK Please Please Me was their first number one in the charts that mattered at the time, New Musical Express and Melody Maker. Hence recognised as such by the BBC and Radio Luxembourg.
