Griping on refs for Purdue-Texas, but neither team can say other benefited. Missed/bad calls for both. Heide's 4th (5th?) bad as TKR did bait some, non-call Vokietatis should have been 5th on Braden layup (somehow shot clock after review). Few quick ones top of my head. Just bad

@GreggDoyelStar If Purdue passes Illinois or Nebraska in the seed line they won’t go through Chicago. Committee splits top four teams (based on seeding, not regular season standings) from a conference in different regions if they are all in a top four seed line.

Purdue fans in a full meltdown. A lot of Purdue teams lately have a midseason down stretch (4 straight last year, 3/4 Edey's jr year, 2 straight late and 3/4 Ivey years, 4/5 Carsen final year, 3 straight Dakota/Vince/Haas/PJ year). Interested to see how they respond this year.

@jkennyOPS Agree. But I think a lot of teams that assumed he’d be gone by now are having similar conversations and looking over his tape more than they had in any run up to the draft.

Think the difference between these 4 games and the winning streak for Purdue is level of opponents but also think teams figured out Purdue’s defense was being more aggressive and letting Smith float for turnovers. Those have gone away and Purdue’s defense is struggling again.

Maybe the story of this opening CFP round is just it’s really hard to win on the road in college football vs top teams and not that certain teams didn’t deserve to make it.

@scottmgower My own kid is too young but have nieces in dance and going to 5 hour shows to watch them do 5-10 minutes of dancing is rough. Swimming is similar, too, but more freedom to leave at least between their events potentially as an uncle, as a parent be tough.

@jkennyOPS I don’t see how this team will have space to operate. It still lacks shooting unless Mgbako, Rice, Tucker, Galloway or someone improves from deep a lot. They’ll be crazy good at attacking and inside, though.

@jkennyOPS Think we just have very different views of what a “title contender” is. But to your point, I think Edey created a very high baseline for Purdue over every game. Also, for what it’s worth, Vegas has Purdue 8th in odds and ESPN’s top 25 had them 6th (though meh with portal stuff)

@jkennyOPS I understand your point, I’m just saying it ignores what Painter built last 7-8 years. Edey broke through the upsets in March, yes (though he was a part of 3 of them, too, so he was part of that narrative) but he didn’t make Purdue “title contenders” for the first time.

@jkennyOPS If you think the other Purdue teams weren’t title contenders because, well, they didn’t make the final four or final like edey that’s an after the fact argument. By that logic, any top team people considered any year that lost or got upset was not a title contender.

@jkennyOPS Yes. If you didn’t think they had any chance any of those years, I’d say you were the outlier as a lot of media/people had them in the final four or winning it those years, especially the Haas (Virginia was their 1 seed that year) and 2nd Ivey year.

@jkennyOPS We can argue semantics of “title contender” I guess, but all of those teams had arguments (minus bubble team and Ivey freshman year team) as a a title threat and were in conversations as a contender during the year, if not in March. So be 5-6 of last 8 years.

@jkennyOPS This kind of ignores the last 6-7 years overall. Purdue was a top 10 team Biggie’s 2nd year (RIP), was up to No. 2-3 in AP poll in 2018 (Haas injury in tourney), made elite 8 next year, COVID (bubble team), then rebuilt as top 20 in 2021, then have been No. 3 at some point last 3
