Andrew Tate was recently arrested on multiple serious criminal charges, including allegations of rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, offenses relating to indecent images of a child, and extreme pornography offenses. These are allegations, and like anyone else, he is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Let me be clear: I am not a fan of Andrew Tate. I do not believe he is a role model for me or for my sons.

That said, I do believe he correctly identified a real crisis affecting many young men today—fatherlessness, a lack of purpose, confusion about masculinity, and the need for discipline, responsibility, and purpose. Where I differ is in many of the solutions he has promoted. Recognizing a problem does not automatically mean the proposed remedy is the right one.

There is, however, something that continues to trouble me.

If Andrew Tate and his brother can be arrested and prosecuted on these serious allegations, how is it that so many individuals whose names have been associated with the Jeffrey Epstein scandal—people who have been the subject of years of public reporting and investigations—appear to have faced little or no public accountability?

Justice should never be selective. It should not depend on a person’s popularity, political influence, wealth, or social status. It should be applied equally, regardless of who stands before the court.

Some like to say that justice is blind. Yet at times, it can appear as though justice peeks from beneath the blindfold, taking notice of who is standing before it before deciding how swiftly it will act.

If the evidence is sufficient, then let justice be applied impartially to everyone. If it is not, then due process should be respected for everyone. Equal justice under the law is one of the foundations of a just society.

Just a thought.
