@artofmanliness I stopped journaling too and was curious about this post. I can identify with having less major life decisions to wrestle with and managing emotions better. When I occasionally journal now, itโs an attempt at poetry, a thought about my kids, or some other exploration of beauty.
Several years ago, a neighbor kid kicked a football and shattered a small basement window. We were a family of six living on a teacher's salary at the time, so I boarded it up, thinking I'd get to it someday. The frame was rusted shut. I couldn't fix it.

โThe human condition is paradoxical: free but bound, creative but limited, eternal but finite. This condition strains our self-relation and if left unaddressed descends into self-estrangement.โ
Enthralling essay by @MatthewBArbo on anxiety as a moral concept.
โAnxiety is the product of a genuinely free and finite creature; the creature whose possibilities are so many and expansive yet whose finitude makes them unactionable or unrealโฆ (1)
โThis staring down into the abyss produces anxiety, which is the state that precedes sin, according to Kierkegaard. What is left is for the individual to learn to be anxious in the right way. (2)
The New York Yankees today announced that legendary Yankees play-by-play radio voice John Sterling, who has called 5,420 regular season Yankees games and 211 postseason Yankees games, is retiring effective immediately. He will be recognized in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, April 20, and will visit the WFAN booth during the game ๐๏ธ๐
@JudahGlennHur@AndrewPeterson I regret I havenโt been listening to his music for the last 20 years. Only really got into AP in the last couple of years through your recommendations. Since I saw him perform last week I canโt stop playing his music. More honest and worshipful than songs I sing Sunday mornings.
@JudahGlennHur Oh, ok. For some reason I thought it would be possible to see the whole thread, but I guess it's not a thread but a series of quote tweets.
@JudahGlennHur Gorgeous. Did Twitter/X change something? I canโt scroll through all the quote tweets of your mountain pics. Or maybe I never could? IDK.
We courageously hold each other's hand
With encouragement we behold what's new
We learn to play the music like a band
Spying a challenge to look forward to
Imago dei in the terrestrial
You're the closest thing to celestial

Trying to get back into poetry, so i wrote a limerick on my birthday last Thursday :
Forty-three laps around our sun
And Iโm so grateful for every one
This last year has brought
Many goals I sought
Ready for new ones to be won!
If true, "you will have trouble in this world"
As our Lord, who has overcome the world said
With you I want to trek with sails unfurled
No other trav'ler, Iโd rather be wed

@CalebTheSpy@switchfoot This is probably my favorite of SFโs albums because it was released when I was released into the โreal worldโ and the album dealt with more pain, disappointment, and disillusionment than previous albums and yet with much hope. Album still holds up.
