I love how George Santos only bothers to call out "political theater" when its time for his swan song. Up until now, he was more than happy to be part of the cast.
It once again shows that our representatives understand the problems yet lack the courage to address anything.
The worst part about people being so willing to spread horrible, negative misinformation is the fact that they WANT to believe the stuff. If they didn't want to believe it, they would fact check it or be more careful about sharing it. Instead, they seem to root for tragedy.
@SGHuisman @PhysMossman @dgasparri I don't think this is reasonable. You stated that this model predicts zero drag. Where is the energy that would be necessary to permanently displace (an infinitely tall?) column of air coming from?
"...Gaetz shot back. 'Thoughts and prayers to the former speaker as he works through his grief.'"
Has there ever been a clearer signal that for many "thoughts and prayers" is cynical lip service meant only to placate those in pain and fuel personal ambition?
@MrJoeMilliano I had a classroom set of the book "A Clockwork Universe" that we read throughout the first semester. It's a good companion piece to the mechanics curriculum and it felt good to contribute to the literacy cause.
@RepRibble It's sad that they always commit political seppuku when they come out with the truth. Too little, too late, and they know it.
Wake me up when anyone shows the resolve of Liz Cheney and fights the good fight by running for reelection after taking this stance.
@MrJoeMilliano I think this is where have a robust understanding of the interpretation of the y-intercept comes into play. In many cases, a non-zero y intercept just doesn't make sense. If they can reason to themselves that (0,0) belongs in the model, it becomes easier to deduce the sqrt fit.
In all seriousness, wouldn't it violate Federal Labor laws to set someone's salary that low? Unless, of course, they work no more than 8 minutes per year?
Voting today in the GOP controlled House. Are we voting on issues important to the American people like reducing gun violence? NO.
We are voting on stupid stuff like:
-Reducing salary of Secretary of Energy to $1
-Reducing salary of Asst Secretary of Army for Civil Works to $1
My kid has a "couch potato" dress up day next week. That surprises me because by looking at them each day, I would have guessed that "couch potato" is the school's official dress code.
What the CEO of United fails to understand is that the vast majority of consumers who have a rewards program with their credit card only have it or want it because we know we're overpaying at the register due to high fees and we want a bit of it back.

The House GOP is looking pathetic. They're the kids that run around picking on and teasing other kids, all the while not realizing that everyone is laughing at them and not with them.
Jim Jordan disgusts me. If he were to hold up expedited aid for Israel as a reason to bow out and make way for a moderate Speaker, I'd commend him. But he's using this tragedy as a lever to serve his own ambition.
What a sorry excuse for a human being.

@DanLipinski2 The biggest problem is also the hardest to address. Fulcrum and lever. To make progress with the voters, the folks with the most leverage need to start pushing back. That's what we should expect our leaders to do.
What does it say when Jim Jordan thinks 90% support from his Republican colleagues should entitle him to the Speakership while 96% support for McCarthy meant his ouster?
I can't think of a better allegory for Congressional dysfunction.
@RepRibble But we've cultivated SO many with these views that those that emerge from primaries are now dangerous enough that regardless of the sanity of the center, we're all swimming in shark infested waters.
@RepRibble Honestly, for a long long time I just accepted that these people exist in roughly equal numbers on both sides. Let them cancel each other's votes out... then the sane moderates can dictate the outcomes to elections.
