#SNA forces carried out airstrikes last night on five locations in the Lower Shabelle region that were being used as bases by the Al-Shabaab group. The strikes were conducted after Somali intelligence received information about an attack that the group was planning.

Civil war in Sudan and Ethiopia. Calls for independence in Puntland. Houthi's across the Red Sea. Western forces are keeping a close watch on Somalia due to increased activity from al-Shabaab. #Somalia#HornOfAfrica#alShabaab#Crisis
U.S. military confirms it conducted a strike targeting an al-Shabaab conventional weapons storage warehouse in Northern #Somalia on Sep. 17, 2026.

#UPDATE: Hassan Sheikh told the UN Somalia still needs foreign troops, and appealed for more money to keep them there.
After touting his government’s “capable” institutions, he admitted Somalia still cannot secure itself without outside forces. More boasting, more begging, and no clear path to standing on its own.
Ethiopia is helping the UAE commit a genocide in Sudan.
A Reuters investigation found that Ethiopia is hosting a secret camp used to train thousands of Rapid Support Forces terrorists.
According to sources cited by Reuters, the UAE financed the camp and supplied military trainers and logistical support.
Colombian mercenaries are training RSF terrorists there too — particularly in drone operations.
Think about that.
A terrorist group accused of some of the worst atrocities of Sudan's war is being reinforced with foreign money, foreign trainers and foreign mercenaries.
When the RSF captured El Fasher, UN investigators documented more than 6,000 people killed in the first three days alone.
Civilians were summarily executed.
People were tortured, buried alive and buened alive.
Men, women and children were killed and subjected raped along escape routes.
And the scale of the slaughter was so enormous that evidence of it could be seen from space.
Satellite imagery analyzed by Yale's Humanitarian Research Lab identified multiple clusters of objects consistent with human bodies across El Fasher, including along roads used by civilians trying to escape.
Piles of bodies !
Visible from satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometres above the Earth.
The UN says the RSF's attacks against the Zaghawa and Fur communities bore the defining characteristics of genocide.
More than 14 million Sudanese have been displaced by this war.
And while Sudanese civilians are being slaughtered, tortured, raped and driven from their homes, Sudan's gold continues moving through regional networks toward Dubai.
The Sudanese are bleeding. Emiratis are profiting.
The world cannot keep looking away.

Al-Shabaab Sustains High Operational Activity in Somalia and Kenya
During the 30-day reporting period, at least 29 Al-Shabaab-related incidents were recorded across Somalia and Kenya, including 24 in Somalia and at least 5 in Kenya. In Somalia, activity was concentrated in Lower Shabelle, particularly around Janale, Buulo Mareer, Qoryooley, Buufow and Ceel Waregow, with additional incidents in Bay, Gedo, Middle Shabelle, Mogadishu and Lower Juba.
Reported attacks included IEDs, ambushes, armed assaults and targeted killings, primarily against Somali security forces, military positions and allied military bases. The increased tempo appears linked to Al-Shabaab’s efforts to disrupt sustained military pressure, exploit isolated or vulnerable positions, and maintain freedom of movement along key routes and operational areas.
In Kenya, at least five incidents were reported in Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu, mainly targeting KDF, GSU and other security personnel and positions, including patrols and camps. The pattern indicates continued cross-border pressure and attempts to test Kenyan security deployments along the Somalia border and the Lamu-Garissa corridor.
Despite the increase in attacks compared with previous months, Somali and Kenyan security forces continued counterterrorism operations, disrupting Al-Shabaab networks and preventing or dismantling several planned activities. The overall picture therefore remains one of sustained militant activity alongside continuing security-force pressure on Al-Shabaab’s operational networks.

As we see the war between Iran and the US drawn out, the Houthi's taking over the coast of Yemen, and now the conflict in Ethiopia and Eritrea. We could see the compromise of another shipping route from both sides of the Red Sea. #Tigray#Somalia#Ethiopia#IranWar#Hormuz
🇪🇹 Fighters belonging to the #Tigray People's Liberation Front on Wednesday took control over airports run by the #Ethiopian federal government in Tigray amid an escalating conflict with government troops.
A Chapitos narco banner spotted on an overpass in Mazatlán, Sinaloa that is addressed to President Sheinbaum and Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch.
It names specific Army officers and a state police commander “La Felina” and accuses them of:
• Abuse of authority
• Taking large monthly payments and leaking information
• Fabricating evidence
• Illegal house raids
• Handing detained young people over to have crimes invented against them
• Returning weapons and vehicles after confrontations
• Favoring the Cabrera and MF while avoiding operations against them.
The message ends with: “The fight is not with the government. Investigate them.”

IMO we're seeing a similar situation from the 2022 Tigray War. Further destabilization in the area could prompt non state actors such as al-Shabaab to take advantage of the opportunity in the region.

Regional Rivalries and the Risk of State Fragmentation in the Horn and East Africa
The growing geopolitical competition among countries in the Horn and East Africa, coupled with the increasing influence of regional powers, could trigger the fragmentation and destabilization of additional states. Eritrea, after remaining under prolonged political and economic isolation, has unexpectedly re-emerged as an increasingly assertive regional actor. At the same time, Ethiopia, a major state with a vast territory and a large and diverse population, appears increasingly vulnerable to renewed armed conflicts driven by regional and ethnic dynamics. If these tensions escalate, Ethiopia could face a new cycle of internal conflict with consequences extending far beyond its borders.
The repercussions of the conflict in the Middle East are also spreading into the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, drawing in the surrounding states. Eritrea, Yemen, Djibouti, and Somalia increasingly find themselves positioned within a broader geopolitical contest in which global powers are reassessing their strategic alignments and searching for partners whose interests converge with their own. In this emerging environment, Ethiopia may seek increased political, economic, and security support from the UAE and Israel, while armed opposition groups could look toward Arab and African states for direct or indirect financial, political, and logistical backing.
The central strategic priority must be to prevent Ethiopia from descending into a wider armed conflict that could destabilize the entire region. A prolonged conflict inside Ethiopia would carry serious implications for neighbouring countries, regional security, cross-border displacement, trade routes, and food security. More importantly, an escalation could produce a major humanitarian crisis and create new security vacuums that armed groups and external actors could exploit. Preventing the expansion of conflict should therefore remain a critical priority for regional and international stakeholders
