My daughter wanted a game gift card—I said, let’s build our own game instead.

@gregisenberg I created a Jira alternative at https://t.co/0JWRDROSSI, but I still need to pay for server time, so it's not free right now. Marketing, sales, legal, and compliance challenges also complicate things. I'm open to developing open-source business software, though.
@svpino I think it is really cool, and I’ve been intechnology for a while. So cool that I am showing my daughter how to use AI to build her own game (she is 10 years old)

@davidfowl I remember your presentation at the now defunct monkey space conference, Boston , 2012. So add mentor and speaker to leading successful software projects

its suicide prevention month and its tough to talk about. but we have to talk about it. *trigger warning*.
over 3 years ago, I tried to take my life and was found with a belt around my neck. I now have permanent brain damage and my memory, along with other cognitive related issues, suffers.
I was institutionalized immediately, and in the silence of a small room, with nothing but my thoughts, and facing the repercussions of deeply hurting people who loved me, I learned the greatest lesson I ever have and ever will learn.
life is SO hard. its so incredibly hard. there is so much effort required, there is SO much hurt, so much anger.. living is a lot of work.
but the lesson I learned is that life is precious. life is so precious. I never saw it that way until I almost succeeded in taking mine. but I’m here to say that it is.
I have very hard days. I live with a tremendous amount trauma, so much that I was diagnosed with BPD, a completely non-genetic, preventable disorder.
but if I can push,
if I can fight,
if I can find the beauty in the small things,
if I can laugh,
if I can love…
you can too. you can.
it is hard work, but you find your purpose and you fucking work for it.
I realized in that room that my purpose is love. I can choose to not be a product of what happened to me - I can choose to be something I, myself, built. I have so much anger inside of me… RAGE. but I can transmute that passion into love, and I can be kind, and I can be funny, and I can be helpful, and I can giggle and be silly and bring joy to people’s lives.
suicide is never the answer. there are people who need you to make their day, to make them laugh, to make them feel loved. and when you do that, it will be returned to you. choose better for yourself, its NEVER too late.
