The Declaration of Independence wasn't a request — it was a warning: your rights don't come from government, and government answers to you — not the other way around.
Six days before independence was declared, at a half-finished palmetto-log fort on Sullivan's Island, South Carolinians turned back the most powerful navy on Earth.
The palmetto on our flag is not for decoration. It is a record.
But 250 years on, we've drifted far from that founding. A federal government nearly $40 trillion in debt spends money nobody consented to. Surveillance programs treat citizens as suspects. A two-party duopoly writes the rules of its own competition, right down to the ballot access laws here in South Carolina.
The remedy isn't waiting on Washington to reform itself. It starts where 1776 did: with neighbors, communities, and free people acting through individual responsibility and voluntary cooperation.
On this 250th anniversary of American Independence, we reaffirm our commitment to self-ownership, free markets, free speech, privacy, the right to keep and bear arms — and to power returned to its rightful source: the individual.
Happy Independence Day, South Carolina.
H.3557 would require candidates from every political party in South Carolina, including parties that do not hold primaries, to pay a filing fee. For example, the filing fee to run for US Senate would be over $10,000.
This law reduces competition and shortens the filing period.
The South Carolina Senate will be voting soon on H.3557, which would reduce ballot competition. More than half of the SC House races already are unopposed in the general election. Contact your state senator today and tell them to vote against limiting your options.

President Trump is poised to make decisions regarding the fate of these men and we urge him to choose freedom.
Six Richland Co. council members served no trespass notices to Anna Herron, a citizen educating neighbors about a $1.4B tax-heavy budget. She hadn't even been to 4 of the properties.
#StandWithAnna Silencing dissent with law enforcement is unacceptable.

@ai_outlander@GunOwners You should see what else is in this bill before your judge. It has some good things in it, but it also adds trillions of dollars to the deficit. The Republicans who voted no were voting no for the trillions added to our already out of control deficit.
@jduncan0657@JamesTrevi62556@LegendaryEnergy People are wildly misinformed when it comes to western NC. I have a lot of friends in that area and I've been in that area personally several times in the last 6 months. The debris is not even 50% cleaned up and what has been done has mostly been done through voluntary efforts.
@SUBWAY@SUBWAY is a garbage organization. Their app just charged me twice and then failed to send the order to the store. The store gave me an email address to send a message to for support. What a garbage way to do business. Pathetic.
