@dieworkwear I just moved to China recently and I’m meeting with a local tailor at a fabric market next week to pick out the fabric and get fitted for a suit. What kind of questions should I be asking, what should I be looking out for, etc.?
@RAILMag Been here over two years now and haven't needed it once - especially since Silver Line opened to Dulles (I travel a lot). I think people mistake "necessity" with "convenience." There are plenty of times I wish I had a car for convenience, but I never *need* it.
@TomHorsman I've never understood why we haven't been able to convince US airlines to prioritize this sort of cnxn more. I know it's a historically fraught relationship btwn the airlines and pax rail, but considering how much more $ they make on longer flights, seems like a win-win
@AMcElveen2@LibbyApp I have my Campbell Co library card hooked up to the Libby app and it's great! As a KY resident you can also connect the Cincy/Hamilton Co library which has even more options.
Every time I hear an ad for Audible (and remember seeing how expensive an audiobook is on there) I want to shout to every person I see about @LibbyApp. Free ebooks and audiobooks from your local library(ies), just like the old "books on tape."
@5chw4r7z @cincylibrary@LeaLeaincincy Do y'all get to reciprocally use the KY library system? We do for Hamilton County and I absolutely love having so many libraries to choose from. Rarely can't find a book between them.
@cjuk33 Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's literally being covered in every major national, state, and local news outlet and the Governor has been hammering at Norfolk Southern about it. But somehow "a massive environmental disaster is happening and no one even knows!"
@the_transit_guy I'm supposed to speak at an oversight hearing of DC DOT end of Feb @ their (very poorly) newly-installed bus lanes in SE. If you have any contacts/suggestions for how to frame my remarks, please send along!
@Sayde_Scarlett If half the energy people spent about TLM was channeled into figuring out how to get people to go (back) to *any* type of Mass, maybe we'd get somewhere. The house is on fire and we're arguing over what color the walls should be painted.
@dmtrubman Good on you calling this out. Working class folks the world over pay their $2 fare or whatever day in and day out. Pretending you need to "protect" them from paying fares is paternalistic and downright offensive.
@5chw4r7z This whole plan is just... insane. I honestly can't believe it whenever I've read stories about it. Hoping that y'all voters will do the right thing and send this *decidedly* to the grave!
@bufordsharkley@the_transit_guy Fairly marginal land being... one of the densest neighborhoods in the city? Why do you say it's weird geographically? Just because it's not downtown?
@JonAskonas The “historical predestination” mindset ran deep up until the end. Gorbachev was comically confident he could rescue/reform the CCCP as it was visibly crumbling around him.
