Former Weather Channel meteorologist Guy Walton, who now runs a weather blog and writes children’s books about the climate crisis, is naming heat waves after the fossil fuel companies that are responsible for warming the planet and worsening the climate crisis.
So far, Walton has named 3 U.S. heat waves: Amoco, BP, and Chevron. He said naming the heat waves after oil and gas companies is about ‘naming and shaming,’ and thinks other meteorologists and the media should be more direct about who’s to blame for these extreme weather events.
‘I’m trying to be a bug in the ear of my compatriots to take what I’m doing and run with it,’ Walton said. ‘I realize what I’m doing is controversial and corporate media will want to steer clear of it, but people need to be riled up. I don’t think we need to pull any punches. If it causes consternation, so be it.’

@MeidasTouch Do you know if promoted tweets count towards the total? They were not asked for, nor followed. If they count, then my desired content is being restricted even more.
So, let me get this straight: yesterday the Supreme Court ruled colleges CAN’T discriminate on the basis of race but today they ruled that a web designer CAN discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community? Sorry, but this Court is so freaking messed up.
The Classified Docs🧵:
There have been lots of questions on why these 31 classified (CL) docs were selected and how they will be used. This thread addresses three questions (1) Why the 31 docs? (2) Will the docs be declassified? (3) How will the CL docs impact the trial?
Incredibly funny that as long as our garbage nation stands, its history books will reflect that the first-ever federal indictment of a president was announced via an unhinged social media rant about garage doors
@YNB@Justinjpearson I was thinking how great @brotherjones_ is and then I heard he was mentored by and interned for @BarbaraLeeForCA and it made sense. It was like watching Rep Lee (hopefully Sen Lee soon🤞🏼) when she stood alone opposing the Iraq invasion ✊🏼
