This will be the last time I post about the PSBlackout. But for anyone that supports it, participated in it or are still participating in it:
Get ready for the avalanche of "Lol it didn't do anything" "You did that for nothing" "It didn't work" etc.
No one in their right mind expected Sony to fold and do an about face on physical games after a week. The truth of the matter is, only Sony knows how much the week long blackout impacted them or didn't. The people that claim it "did nothing" don't know this despite how convinced they are that they do.
Whether or not it was a "success" or not depends on whether you think the fact that many people participated in within itself is a success. I personally feel that way. We all took a stand and let ourselves be known, that was the intent of it. Perhaps this serves as a building block to getting Sony to reconsider.
This is the not the end of the fight. We have to keep the pressure on them and not let them believe that we have given up.
Make sure you report the physical:digital split on this game, it'll be fun y to see another PlayStation 1st party title sell 40%-70% again while you tell us no one plays physical anymore.

If this PlayStation blackout continues, imma need some recommendations for PC and Nintendo games. I'm tryna prove a point @PlayStation can suck it #NODISCNOBUY
I don't mean to sound like an elitist but you can't rly discuss video games on here cuz a lot of ppl first console was the ps4. Most these ppls first game was fortnite, some sports game, or hoyoverse gacha
This is EXACTLY what we’re warning about.
Content you “purchased” can disappear from your library because a licensing agreement changes.
Now imagine a digital-only future where your entire game library works under the same basic principle: you don’t own a permanent copy... you own access subject to a license.
And even after removing something you PAID FOR, @Sony actually end the notice with “Thank you.” 💀
This is why ownership and physical media matters. This is why consumer choice matters.
@PlayStation Slide into obscurity from bad business practices. Your digital future isn't good enough for us. Work on that security and then we'll talk. NO DISC NO BUY
🚨 THE SONY PLAYSTATION BLACKOUT ISN’T THE STORY- IT’S THE FLARE!
I’ve spent days on Sony, physical media, digital ownership and the direction PlayStation is heading.
The more I look at it, the more obvious it becomes that this is much bigger than Sony.
The issue is how much control gamers are slowly handing over to corporations, wo realizing what they’re giving up.
For decades, buying a disk game meant something simple. You owned that copy. You could keep it, lend it, sell it, trade it or give it away.
Federal copyright law recognizes that principle through the First Sale Doctrine.
"Then digital gaming changed the equation."👈
Sony, Valve & Nintendo all use language making it clear that digital content is licensed rather than sold outright. That matters because a license doesn’t necessarily carry the same rights as owning a physical copy.
You may pay full price for a game and still have no right to resell it, transfer it or treat it like something you actually own.
"That should concern gamers."
And this is where we need to start paying attention to the law, because a corporation’s Terms of Service do not exist in a vacuum. That means, they aren't above the law- state or federal.
Federal consumer-protection law still prohibits unfair and deceptive practices. Subscription services are subject to rules governing disclosure, consent and cancellation. Credit-card laws may provide dispute protections when something goes wrong.
Laws matter.
California specifically requires clearer disclosure when companies use words like “buy” or “purchase” for digital goods that are actually licenses and may potentially be revoked.
Texas has the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, " they enforce it," and other states have similar consumer-protection laws.
The important part is having knowledge of what those laws do and don’t currently guarantee. There is no broad federal law giving digital games the same resale and transfer rights physical copies have.
There is no blanket guarantee that every digital game you purchase will remain available forever, and there is no automatic digital equivalent of handing your game to somebody else when you’re finished with it.
That gap is where gamers need to start paying attention.
Physical media is shrinking. Used-game competition is shrinking. Subscriptions are growing. Digital licenses are becoming the norm. More purchases depend on accounts, authentication servers and storefronts controlled by the same companies selling the games.
"That gives those companies tremendous leverage."
And rights aren’t lost in one dramatic moment.
They get a diluted revised agreement, a discontinued option, a subscription increase and they're forced into the “I Agree” button at the time.
That’s why I keep talking about the PlayStation blackout. Gamers need to understand that this fight is absolutely necessary and much larger then we assumed.
Sony isn't the only company doing this.
@Sony is one very visible example of where the entire industry could be heading.
Gamers need to know what they’re buying. What “ownership” actually means.
Know your local and federal consumer protections. Keep your receipts and transaction records.
Read major Terms of Service changes instead of blindly accepting them. We are way too fast at clicking!
And when legislation comes up over digital ownership, preservation, subscriptions or consumer rights, pay attention.
Corporations have lawyers protecting their interests.
We gamers had better start protecting ours.
The #PSBlackout isn’t the whole fight.
It’s the warning that made some of us start looking.

If Take-Two and @RockstarGames couldn’t even protect their most heavily guarded game from being stolen and leaked months before its release, shouldn’t we be concerned about sharing our data with them in the future? Questions questions..

"Special editions were $100 back then too!"
Yeah, and they came with limited edition packaging, a fancy case, an art book, a fucking figurine, the soundtrack, a booklet signed by God himself, and a PHYSICAL DISC INSIDE.
@PlayStation I'll keep my cool if ya'll keep our physical media coming. I bought a disc edition PS5 to use all of my collection. Not just the digital. Take care of your customers. NO DISC NO BUY
@PlayStation Man it's so cool that if you buy the disc for stuff, you can still get the DLC. Having discs to guarantee that you own your content is pretty cool. NO DISC NO BUY
@PlayStation Oh man. All of those came out on discs back in the day. That means if you bought em, you owned em unlike digital. Dang. Sure would be nice to own all our purchases, digital or physical. You wanna tell someone to work on that for us? NO DISC NO BUY
