@FreddyLA7 Freddy, Arkansas really is called “The Natural State,” and now I see why! Absolutely beautiful! Maybe swing by @Walmart HQ in Bentonville. They might roll out the red carpet for you!
Hey, @CoachCalArk, how about giving Freddy a tour of @RazorbackMBB while he's in town? 🏀🐗🇺🇸
I'm almost in AWE at the masterful level of deception James Talarico employs in this ridiculously viral interview on Jimmy Kimmel.
There is a VERY SUBTLE play getting run on Christians over and over. And once you see it, you can never unsee it.
Got to hand it to Bill Maher. We may not agree on everything but thank God he is calling out the insanity. That takes moral courage & principles. And deserves respect.
Things you learn in Texas:
1. The guy in the F-150 is worth a lot more than the dude in a Mercedes.
2. The small business owner from a state school is smarter than the majority of Ivy League grads.
3. There’s more racism in Connecticut country clubs than in rural honky-tonks.
4. Rednecks are more honorable than investment bankers.
5. The man who looks like he can’t afford the tab could buy the building.
6. They don’t ask for a deck before the meeting.
7. Prep school is where they send the problem kids.
8. If he’s wearing dusty boots, a 2XL Magellan shirt, a gold Rolex, and has a bulletproof case on his iPhone 12, you’ve already lost the negotiation.
9. “How’s business?” is a real question. “What do you do?” is a New York question.
10. Tips are bigger and egos are smaller.
11. A handshake still closes deals that a term sheet would kill.
12. The wealth is in real estate, oil, or a company nobody in Manhattan has ever heard of.
13. Your wife or daughter will never struggle finding help to change a tire.
14. Nobody asks where you went to college.
15. A weekend invitation to their ranch makes you part of the family.
So we decided to try one simple thing :
Before bed , don't discuss business , don't look at the phone , just say three sentences to each other
- what was most pleasant today
- what made us laugh
- what we're grateful to each other for
The first evenings were awkward
Then became magic
One of the best renditions of poetry ever recorded.
Actor Michael Sheen delivers a powerful performance of Dylan Thomas’s 1951 poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night.”
Watch when your body raises its own cholesterol, and you will see what it is for.
It goes up in pregnancy. By the third trimester a woman's cholesterol has risen 30 to 50%, because she is building a brain, a liver and a set of glands out of it, and the body does not wait for permission.
It goes up in a breastfed baby. Higher than in a formula-fed one, on purpose, because the milk is loaded with it and the brain is doubling in a year.
It goes up at puberty, when the testes and ovaries open for business and need the raw material for everything they make.
It goes up in winter, every year, in every population measured, because the sun is gone and the skin needs more of it on hand to make what vitamin D it can.
It goes up after the menopause, when the ovaries stop using it, and the body keeps the shelf stocked.
It goes up when you are injured, at the wound, to close it.
And it goes down when you are dying. In sepsis, in cancer, in the starving and the frail, cholesterol falls, and the lower it falls the sooner the end.
Up when building. Up when defending. Up when the light goes. Down when the body has given up.
The guideline reads the number and calls up a disease and down a success.
Your body has been raising it, on purpose, at every important moment of your life, and the tablet is a vote against all of them.
