@will_owen9 It was amazing! The crowd was also more knowledgeable and into the game than pretty much any crowd I've been in before. A great sign for the future
That adage of getting out of a room if you're the smartest person in it....I think it's not really as simple as that. People are smart in different ways, it's about being in rooms with a diversity of skills and intelligence in complementary spheres. You haul each other up
For instance the "gzip: stdout: broken pipe" errors here: https://t.co/k9dafhBLmx They are coming from just running "zcat <file> | head" on a bunch of compressed files.
Seeing programs reporting SIGPIPE errors on github actions when stdout is closed. Doing the same with the same versions locally doesn't show the same errors (presumably they catch and handle the signal?). Any ideas what the difference may be?
🧵 A New Year's Eve tale:
June 1990
"Hello, could you tell me when the next train to Birmingham is?"
"One moment, ah yes, it's at 1:40."
"Brilliant!"
"People aren't usually this excited about Birmingham."
"I've got a date with Sam, I can't believe it!"
"Have fun young man."

@RichardJMurphy Betty interesting. I enjoyed Joy of Tax and learned a lot. There sounds like some overlap in topics here, what do you see as the key differences?
After interviewing many developers over the last few months I wrote up some interview tips for developers. (Not specifically on answering technical questions, but on preparation and best using the interview time to present yourself) https://t.co/d7TwUyDGU2
