@LPOrchestra@BBCSO@musescore I don't claim this piece represents the lived experience of everyone affected by dementia. Rather, it is my personal interpretation of the condition through music, reflecting memory loss and identity
I hope you hear beyond the notes, and feel the story they are trying to tell.
*Dementia* is my attempt to express memory loss through sound.
While writing this piece I kept asking a simple question: *What would it sound like if an orchestra could forget?*
@LPOrchestra@BBCSO@musescore This is how I imagine dementia, for me its not an abrupt silence or an empty void, it is a slow, heartbreaking erosion of memory. Familiar thoughts become incomplete, recognizable moments disappear, and the mind struggles to hold on to what it once knew.
@LPOrchestra@BBCSO@musescore I began a single melody on the violin. As it grew it gradually slipped away. Each section of the ensemble begin to lose fragments of it, some forget the rhythm, others the pitch or even the mode.
