Fans can mislead a star. In their misguided sense of loyalty they can inadvertently damage a star’s reputation.

When a beloved star is making wrong moves and one flags them, he or she will be attacked and called a hater.

The result is that the star will start pandering to the approval, cheers and weaponisation of said loyalty.

Learn from the careers of megastars such as Beyonce. Some stars in her celebrity echelon court the drama, Beyonce ignores it.

Privately Beyonce could have a problem with something but she won’t be the one to say it, her surrogates will. Especially when it is a trivial matter. That protects her from looking foolish if the evidence ends up not supporting her grievance.

When Beyonce addresses it, then you know this must be big. But if she was online constantly moaning about the mundane, that power and impact would dissipate.

Engaging in public spats over backstage issues just opens one to unnecessary blemish on their brand. Let your manager or PR person sound the alarm, if it is really something that important to complain about and expose.

Public attacks on fellow creatives’ work ethics are always tricky because the attempt to malign one person can easily turn on you. Sans evidence, the old adage prevails … there are two (three) sides to a story.

Of course, we can’t caution our faves because then the “fans” will come attacking.

A true fan should be honest with you and not just cheer on everything.
