Why would you take out a loan and pay interest on an asset that is going down and staying there for at least year? Better to sell and pay 20% than loose 80%. and then you can buy back at a much lower price.

@EduardHabsburg I agree with the person who said you have to be American to understand Gatsby. Probably true. Did you know that in real life, Fitzgerald, like Gatsby, was forbidden to marry someone because he was poor and she was rich. 1920's America; much new wealth and many lives ruined.
