Randall Cunningham: A Ready For Primetime Player
Making his first career primetime start, the Eagles' talented young quarterback somehow eludes Giants linebacker Carl Banks and hits Jimmie Giles for a touchdown on MNF at The Vet.
A special, unforgettable play
Lane Johnson is a special player, but more importantly a special person! I love him like a brother!
For the past decade, Lane has been the best Right tackle in the NFL. His athleticism, technique, strength, and size, combined to make him a player few could get around. His pass set and movements looked more like an art than someone who punched people for a living. It was a pure joy to watch him play for all these years, but even more so, it was a pure joy to be his friend. Lane could make me laugh, cry, and smile all in a matter of hours. In the meeting room cracking jokes, in his car listening to country music lyrics, at the cafeteria talking about life, I cherish the memories, they give me so much joy. Congratulations on retirement, I loved ever second of watching you play, and am proud that I got to share the field with you @LaneJohnson65
44 years ago today, Pat Summerall and John Madden called a Division-III college football game.
Wittenberg vs. Baldwin-Wallace
October 3, 1982
During the fall of '82, in the second week of the NFLPA's 57-day players' strike, CBS needed to get creative with its Sunday afternoon programming.
So on October 3, the network sent its top NFL broadcast team of Pat Summerall and John Madden to Springfield, Ohio to call Division-III Wittenberg's game against its rival Baldwin-Wallace — each school with an enrollment then of about 2,000 students.
Three other NFL on CBS broadcast teams were also assigned to call Division-III games that weekend.
Wittenberg, Baldwin-Wallace, and the Ohio Athletic Conference were each paid $10,000 for the game.
The video includes the CBS open and pregame introduction by Pat and John, the first several minutes of the game, and select highlights from this historic CBS broadcast.
A very rare and fascinating telecast — and quite a thrill for those players, coaches, students, and communities.

It was #OTD in 1984 that the #Cubs played their first postseason game since Game 7 of the 1945. Ernie Banks threw out the ceremonial first pitch and @jimmybuffett sang the anthem in place of his recently deceased friend Steve Goodman. @Sut_40 pitched 7 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. Bobby Dernier led off with a home run, Gary Matthews hit 2 home runs and drove in 4 runs, Ron Cey homered, and even Sut hit one on to Sheffield as the Cubs pounded the Padres 13-0 in Game 1 of the NLCS
🇺🇸⚾️On September 30, 1988, after throwing the ceremonial first pitch, President Ronald Reagan called play-by-play for an inning and a half with Harry Caray at Wrigley Field.
