Political outsiders built this country; therefore, we will be the ones to save it.

It’s important to stand in solidarity with and advocate for the protection of all innocent civilians regardless or their borders. I condemn the rhetoric of leaders like the Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, who would rather instill fear and put the weight of war on the backs of the innocent.
It was great meeting Houston Gaines (@houstongaines) today! He will represent Georgia’s 10th congressional district well. We were even able to share a badly lit photo.
To kill a mockingbird is a sin. The words of President Trump are not the words of someone seeking peace. These are the words of escalation, confusion, and violence. The Iranian regime is a brutal evil that must come to an end, but it is also home to some 90 million innocent Iranians whom never asked for this conflict. What will the next generation of Iranians be called to do if this wave of military operations results in mass civilian casualties? The United States cannot afford a religious war.
For the record, I am opposed to a full-scale, regional war with the Iranian regime. I also have concerns as to the executive’s authority to carry out such military operations without a declaration of war or notification to Congress. As I said, I support a swift end to the conflict—not a full-scale war.
Last night, the United States - in coordination with allies in the middle east - conducted military operations against the Iranian regime that targeted military leadership, missile bases, and nuclear development sites. Iran has retaliated with strikes on US military bases in the surrounding region.
I am in favor of regime change in Iran. My hope is that this conflict is short lived, results in the complete and total elimination of the theocratic Iranian regime, and frees the Iranian people. At the end of the conflict, the United States should not claim any of the regions resources and should act diplomatically to see the establishment of a new, fairer government.
I am praying for the safety of innocent civilians in Iran, Israel, and the surrounding countries of the middle east. I am praying for the members of our military who may lose their lives in this effort to free the Iranian people.
Today, I found myself thinking about the deeper implications of civil disobedience—the ability to tackle the issues of hate and oppressive systems head-on without fear or violence. Everything was calm and calculated. I’ve come to the conclusion that King acted knowing that if it went up in flames, it would burn brightly—brightly enough for the whole world to see.
If nothing is to change, what happened today in Minneapolis will undoubtedly happen again. A young mother and US citizen, Renee Nicole Good, was unnecessarily shot dead by an ICE agent after she attempted to remove herself from an interaction.
While I denounce her failure to comply with lawful orders, it is my belief that the circumstances for her death were ultimately created by a broken, rogue enforcement agency that indiscriminately utilizes fear and intimidation in our communities.
Under ICE’s current operations, hardworking immigrants are being held at the same detention facilities as criminals, families are being broken up, and entire industries that rely on their labor are being disrupted. There is film of armed ICE agents removing a daycare worker in front of children. They are allowed to misrepresent their authority to get their way, and there are multiple instances of excessive use of force. The Trump administration has used every chance to not only defend these ICE operations but to expand the agency’s powers and authority to carry them out.
Until something is done to restore public trust and ensure safety in interactions with ICE, I stand in solidarity with demonstrators across the country who are demanding a change not only to immigration enforcement but to the broken system that got us here.
I commend President Trump and his administration for last night’s military operation. I am incredibly happy to see the capture and removal of the cruel dictator, Nicolás Maduro, in Venezuela. As he should, he will be brought to justice for his ties to narco terrorism and the human rights violations seen to by his regime.
However, I think the US should act solely diplomatically from here - seeing to a peaceful and effective transition of power. Venezuela’s sovereignty must be respected. Excess US military pretense should be swiftly removed after government stability has been established. Their natural resources should be left alone to be invested in the reconstruction of their communities. Anything beyond this should be considered imperialistic in nature.
