$ATOM is Interchain money and is about to become the third capital asset in crypto, next to $BTC and $ETH, with the benefit of being the most decentralized governance token in all of crypto. There is value in being that.

In its initial ICO, 80% of the ATOM supply was given away to all kinds of ICO participants, large and small investors alike.

Nowadays, token allocations look more like this:
- 30% to the team
- 25% to the foundation
- 25% to VCs
- 5% to advisors and strategic partners
- with very little left that goes to the wider community => 10-15%

@CelestiaOrg is great, but I don't think it will ever replace $ATOM as Interchain money, as it is highly VC-centralized in its distribution. ATOM is not. It built up its culture around decentralized governance, with lots of very contentious gov. props in its history, often only passing or being rejected by a razor-thin margin. That's actually a sign of a very healthy governance system, where actual debate is happening and not just one foundation or one individual dictating what's going to happen and everyone follows along.

For a decentralized governance system like the Cosmos Hub, it's crucial to be able to control its own monetary policy. That includes things like:
- Modifying its monetary policy (inflation rate)
- Taker fees on LSTs
- PoL injections
- Incentivization for driving ATOM's usage as money

▶️ Proposal #848 was the first triumph of this governance-backed money, where the community voted to alter ATOM's inflation rate, basically outvoting the co-founders' vision and the inflation concept outlined in the initial whitepaper.

⚛️Hopefully, we will see more of such community-led proposals coming soon to the Cosmos Hub, further solidifying $ATOM's value proposition of being decentralized governance-backed Interchain money.
