OSA CENSORSHIP ISSUE REACHES CONGRESS

BREAKING: Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel says in his privilege speech before lawmakers at the Congress that he intends to file a house resolution to probe “the rampant violation of democractic rights in UST,” in light of the TomasinoWeb censorship by the Office for Student Affairs (OSA).

Manuel says he also aims “to hold accountable” OSA Director Maria Cecilia Tio Cuison and Asst. Director Maria Regina Arriero: "Hindi na puwedeng mapapalampas ang kanilang ginawa."

UST must also revisit the system inside the Office for Student Affairs, most especially when it comes to guiding student leaders—how it may have contributed to the dwindling number of student leaders due to many factors (e.g. toxic work environment, fear, miscommunication, etc.).

READ: The UST Journalism Society issued a statement regarding the Office for Student Affairs' directive to TomasinoWeb to remove its photo of College of Information and Computing Sciences students, describing it as reminiscent of "bygone eras of colonial rule and martial law repression."
