I’m at that weird age where every younger person I meet makes me realize how much l've aged, and every older person I meet makes me realize I'm still a baby.
Since Akademiks is apparently the "#1 guy in hip hop media" I'd like to see him rebuttal this..
The difference between the Drake and Kendrick songs in question here is that Kendrick does that "hey hey hey hey" reprise then immediately switches up the flow and starts spitting
Drake uses that "manish on the beat shabang" flow for an entire 2.5 minutes of this song before there's even a slight change in cadence. Music's subjective but in my subjective opinion, that is OBJECTIVELY lazy songwriting..
On the contrary, the first half of 'Whisper My Name' or the second half of 'Plot Twist' are great examples of what he should've done throughout this whole album. Multiple flows and vocal ranges all throughout to keep the listener engaged
I find on a big bulk of this project, Drake relies too heavily on beat switches to cater to the ADHD listener, and using those sporadic switch-ups to compensate for the monotony in his flow patterns
I'm mad af that I missed this in cinema. And I feel this is the on going problem with the audience that want representation, but don't show up for it. When Hollywood actually delivers a female POC banger of a film, no one talks about it. #TheyWillKillYou
