@KevOnFilm I loved the directing, acting, and some sequences were so well done for pacing and tension and intrigue. But I suspected this would be hard to pull these big vague concepts together into something that satisfies my mind that likes more specificity.
@MisterCoat I found myself loving the directing. It's the story that didn't do it for me. But that's me personally not liking big vague conceptual stuff.
@TatooineSons This sounds interesting. But I also think it is futile and ultimately unimportant to change people's minds.
I loved it too but I think their reactions are just as real. I know enough people from real life immediately after before internet told them what to think to know that.
@TatooineSons I guess I just struggle with the concept of a fandom in that sense. Everybody has their own personal fandom. Another person can ruin things for you and be rude but they shouldn't really be able to change your personal fandom.
@TatooineSons I agree with your sentiment but the idea that there is any sort of "membership" for fans is weird. It's an undefined sort of thing.
There will be nice people who like Star Wars and there will be assholes that like Star Wars.
@Danimalish It absolutely emphasizes empathy and diplomacy over violence. But it also recognizes brute strength defense is also needed.
Not controversial - but when people go online and spell it out, and give it labels, then those people think its "woke". Better to just let movie speak.
@DisgruntJedi Social media turned it into something to have nonstop outrage on for years.
But I actually started realizing other people didn't like it from chatting to real people at work before I saw the internet go nuts.
Both surprised me but it is what it is.
@ParkHopper55 I don't think that's controversial at all amongst world travellers. The queue is nice, but beyond that unless you like getting it over with faster it has pretty much no unique things that elevate it above others -- just a lot of omission.
@TatooineSons I'm a firm believer it was the right story under the conditions.
If you have a problem it should be with the JJ Abrams setup or the lack of 30 years of live action Luke in his prime.
@Wellllan I would love for as many IMAX 70mm theaters to exist as possible, but just because there are few and a director wants to make something for them doesn't mean it isn't worth it.
What's weird though is having two versions of a film where neither is really definitive.
@cmrnmorse This is my biggest problem with movies having multiple aspect ratios. I want the one true artistic vision and I feel like instead they are all compromises.
