Decades of deception, lies, procrastination, and blatant majoritarianism have kept the tribes in the “Hill Areas” deprived of real developmental benefits, true autonomy of district councils, and an equitable share of political power.

Heaped on top of these are the hegemonic designs to grab tribal lands by trying to become Scheduled Tribes. How long can the tribes in the “Hill Areas” of Manipur tolerate the suppression, deception, and injustice meted out to them by the majority community?

The tribal people expect the elected representatives from the Hill Areas to leverage the powers of the Hill Areas Committee under Article 371C to fight for tribal rights, but each time that expectation is belied.

The unhappy tribes are disunited and fail to recognize the real adversary keeping them oppressed and subjugated, instead fighting among themselves while forgetting that the key to freeing themselves from political domination lies in their combined hands.

No one but God can help these faithless leaders blinded by greed for land, power, and money. Their greed and short-term ambitions will drag the tribal people into another spell of misery and suffering.

The so-called “skill development revolution” turned into another system where certificates were distributed, photos were clicked, crores were spent, but thousands of youth still remained unemployed. Under the , many training centres focused more on targets and funding than actual quality education. In several places, students complained about poor training, fake attendance, outdated courses, and no real job placements after completion.

For many unemployed youth, PMKVY became a symbol of “certificate without career.” Instead of creating skilled professionals ready for industries, the scheme was often accused of producing paperwork and inflated success numbers while ground reality remained unemployment and frustration.

The biggest question youth ask today is:
If lakhs were trained under PMKVY, then why are lakhs still struggling for stable jobs?

Yesterday, @official_dgar recovered nearly 70 high-grade weapons linked to valley-based insurgent group UNLF-P — an underground outfit officially under a “peace deal” with the Government since 2023.

According to officers on the ground, there was an exchange of fire in Imphal and intelligence inputs suggested militants were planning a larger attack on security forces.

Many of the weapons were mostly smuggled in from Myanmar, while some were also believed to be from the “looted” cache during the violence. Recovered weapons include AK-series rifles, M16s, M4s, sniper rifles, RPGs, explosives .. and even anti-drone jammers.

Re-upping my story from last month on how Manipur today sits on a dangerous stockpile of sophisticated weapons and explosives, with thousands of arms still believed to be in the hands of insurgent and armed groups across the state. My anti-junta sources in Myanmar had also detailed how weapons continue to be smuggled into Manipur from across the border .. Chinese, Russian, American-origin, factory-made, modified, improvised, and everything in between.

The group was in the process of selling weapons, which included AK 47 rifles. When the police intercepted them, they fired at the police. Total four cadres arrested.
