Why are we seeing more leaks right now? Here's what's happening 👇

The recent hot, dry weather is putting extra pressure on our water network. When the ground dries out, it can shift putting more strain on the pipes. At the same time, higher demand for water increases the pressure in the network, making bursts and leaks more likely.

That's why our teams are currently fixing around 20% more leaks than normal - over 1,000 weekly, or one every 10 minutes.

We're also making major long-term improvements, replacing 100km of water mains since April last year as part of our biggest upgrade in 150 years.

With more than £500 million invested every year in finding and fixing leaks, we're working around the clock to reduce leakage and strengthen the network for the future. 💧

- Arrest criminals and keep them in jail

- Bring the civil service to heel
