A man was killed, a woman was wounded after shots were fired during an altercation in the Oakbrook Center parking lot in Oak Brook this afternoon.

The Oak Brook Police &. Fire Department responded just after 12pm to the parking lot outside L.L. Bean, 2202 Oakbrook Center, for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and found a man shot dead at the scene and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She transported to a local hospital for treatment 🏥 Her condition is unknown.

Police said 2 vehicles carrying a total of 5 people met in the parking lot and shots were fired during an altercation between them.

A shopper who was inside L.L. Bean said that people in the store had to shelter in the back.

The shopper said a witness was telling police that a man wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants got out of a white Nissan SUV and fired six shots at another car.

An Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN) alert was issued to area law enforcement agencies about the homicide, according to police radio traffic.

Police said on social media at 12:40 p.m. that the shooting was isolated, there was no active threat and Oakbrook Center would remain open with a heavy police presence.

1 vehicle remained in the parking lot while the other vehicle and its occupants were taken into custody in neighboring Oakbrook Terrace.

Investigators pulled images and license plate information from the Oak Brook Police Department's license plate reader network almost immediately after the shooting, which helped them identify and locate vehicles connected to it.

Police said 3 people in a black Mercedes were being held at the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department.
investigators are interviewing the people involved and reviewing footage to determine who was in which vehicle.

No charges have been announced as the shooting remains under investigation by the Oak Brook Police Department.
