Just published in @JACCJournals Case Reports, our application of the ARCTIC procedure in a patient with an oversized annuloplasty ring: ARCTIC CIRCLE @jtsaxon@jamiemccabeMD https://t.co/YJuqwG5IWv
Excited to announce our first enrollment in TricValve heterotopic valve replacement for severe TR.
Amazing design and elegant deployment of the BiCaval valve prostheses.
We might just change our @UVA mascot to the CAVAL-iers!!!!
@Jeff_Chidester@MohamedMorsyMD@MHermiller
Extremely proud of rockstar structural and advanced valve fellow @Jeff_Chidester presenting our @CardioUva experience of repeat m-teer at the floating podium just outside the Jefferson Memorial @CRT_meeting

Selection of recent cases @CardioUva with a TAVR-in-TAVR, TAVR-in-SAVR, TAVR-in-SU-AVR, and a ViViViV TAVR. Great training to prepare for lifetime management of aortic stenosis. What seems atypical will be our average week's cases in the near future!
Great thread by @jtsaxon and an excellent learning case for me recently. Only one predictor of valve infolding to add, and that’s that it’ll happen during your 4:30 PM case! Glad for a vigilant team, the patient got a great result
@jtsaxon@CardioUva@UvaValve Has been a great first month. Learning a ton and enjoying being part of the team. Beyond all the great things @jtsaxon mentioned, how do you beat a scrub sink view like this??
7 years in Dallas come to a close, great training in Medicine/Cardiology/IC at @UTSWInternalMed@UTSWCardfellow Excited to be back in Virginia for Structural Heart training at @UVACardsFellows
More importantly, her comments (in my opinion) are a voice for responsiveness and care for learners through adversity and difficulty that (also in my opinion) are critical for medical education. Again would advocate for listening before reading comments on here 5/5
Really worth a listen. I was surprised by the wide gap between the criticisms I’ve heard on this platform and the actual content of the episode. Dr. Holthouser comes across as thoughtful and dedicated to the effective education of future physicians. 1/
In this episode of Not Otherwise Specified, hosted by NEJM National Correspondent @LisaRosenbaum17, a medical educator goes on the record with widespread but rarely publicly voiced concerns about the slippery slope from “wellness days” to inadequate medical training.
Many of the comments on here are describing ways in which hardship has been handled poorly by specific programs or noting that days off are needed for real life. Dr. Holthouser explicitly mentions that having room in training for real life a) happens and b) is important. 4/
