I’m flying out of KC today and I’m curious — are any of the formerly anti new airport folks actually missing the old MCI?

As I see Yankees fans arrive for the ALDS I’m so relieved their potential first impression of our city isn’t the old airport.

@kclightrail Would the EV location result in as much demolition? Of course not. But I just can’t shake the feeling that the EC option will simply feel more exciting, vibrant and less separated from the fabric of our city. The fact they aren’t adding more parking sealed it as a win for me.

But I do think that a case could be made for this to be considered “additive” in the sense that demolishing several small buildings would make way for far greater density than currently exists (office tower, hotel, etc).

@KCPKuli @kclightrail I’m an idealist, but I like this location. I’m pleasantly surprised by the restraint from building more parking (there’s plenty within a reasonable walking distance already) and hopeful that they’ll work hard to integrate it into surrounding areas.

@KSHB41 I like this site, but ONLY IF they work to integrate it into the urban landscape surrounding it. I understand mourning the buildings that will be razed to make room, but I get excited thinking about a stadium existing inside a neighborhood versus in a sea of parking lots.
