@leejanhau@SingHealthSG@some4mv@PALISInet PEEPphobia is common in PICUs. The use of EIT changes that and shows how much PEEP some kids need. PEEP should not be based upon FiO2 needs alone.
@NICU_Musings RAM users are aware of this. Why doesnt anyone discuss the pressure interruption and patient handling from the changing of short binasal prongs to mask that many centres do multiple times a day.
The loudest voices rarely represent the majority. They're usually speaking for the extremes.
You won't understand the views of a group until you've invited the quieter voices into the discussion.
Don't mistake silence for disengagement. It's often a sign of deep reflection.
"When people are more outraged about waiting 4 hours in airport security than 3 years for a hip replacement, we've sort of lost the plot on what's important." CMA President Dr. Katharine Smart says challenges facing the health system need to stay top of mind for Canadians.
@NICU_Musings I find their first pass success rates interesting (68%/54%). Could they also improve stability with better first pass success? Would first pass success with less time of intubation show the same benefit? Their intubation time was 45secs
@gsmartinmd@SarinaKS Why do we call <8ml/kg PBW low tidal volume when it is just a physiological normal tidal volume? All mammals average 6.3 ml/kg PBW.
@AlexRotta @DukePCCM @AGMRRT@jordanpung I have been using EIT clinically in our PICU for a number of years. It will change what you do without a doubt. It is a game changer.
People are asking me why I endorsed the use of "We're Not Gonna Take It" for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers. Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is a infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.
The mood in Ukraine….
Russia’s foreign minister Lavrov this week said negotiations can begin once Russia “restores democratic order” in Ukraine.
As Russian troops neared Kyiv, I asked MP @GoncharenkoUa to comment.
He had a pretty clear one word answer…
“F*** you, Lavrov”.
Mandates are not the problem.
We are infected by individualism so badly that we need to force people to stay home, wear a mask, or get a needle to prevent other people from getting sick.
We should not have to mandate being a thoughtful member of society.
@hinz_tamara Meanwhile the @RUHFoundation is running a campaign to update and improve the RUH ORs. An improvement that will enhance surgical care, support HCWs and result in an overall efficiency enhancement of the system. Foundations do so much for SK healthcare.
Multi casualty handover for #CMERt. @TrevorJain showing us how it’s done: less than a minute, pointy-talky, ID all injuries, all critical interventions, documentation.
Yes, the #covid19vacccine for children is very needed and its’ approval is the right thing to do. Here some important data on yearly deaths by different vaccine preventable disease prior to vaccine approval. #COVID19 is by far worse than the other diseases. #PedsICU#pediatrics
@drsusanshaw I can guarantee they don't use a spacer with their puffer so its not really doing anything. No shortage of future work for respiratory therapists.
