I meet a lot of folks who think Healthcare is too complex to navigate as an early stage investor, and it goes in and out of style as a sexy investment space. But my sneaky secret is I've been investing in it as a non-expert since early 2019.

My thesis has always been about proven operators serving essential industries. It's only natural that I stumbled my way into a few Healthcare deals early on. It's one of the *most* essential industries in our society.

I was fortunate enough at pre-seed in @joindaybreak, led by proven operator @alexdalvarado. That went well (follow on by @lightspeedvp, @usv, @Lux_Capital). So I decided to do keep chasing it as part of the thesis, despite all of its complexities. Today I'm extremely proud to be an investor in fast-growing companies like @rezilienthealth and @astercare_.

And TLDR: I continue to be astounded by the wide open problem space, density of high quality founders, and potential for venture scale returns within Healthcare.

That’s why I am so excited to welcome @rachtsui, PhD as a Venture Partner focused on Healthcare. Her unique perspective as Head of Customer Success at Komodo Health will be an incredible value add to our ability to source and diligence. But most importantly, I'm excited for founders to be able to talk go-to-market, payer strategy, and more with her as they grow.

🚨 BREAKING: NLRB RULES COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYERS ARE EMPLOYEES

The college INDUSTRY takes another major hit. Their exploitation of student athletes will be over soon.

On Monday, a National Labor Relations Board regional director issued a landmark ruling that could shatter the NCAA’s amateurism model. Dartmouth men’s basketball players are considered university employees under U.S. labor law—and therefore are eligible to UNIONIZE.

The case was first filed in September of 2023 by a local chapter of the SEIU.
