When I first started this project nearly 5 years ago — an "AI personal trainer" — I was literally laughed at.

The first bit of technical clarity I had was that, if we were to truly assess and guide an individual exercising in real-time (and not just build a glorified rep counter), we first needed to build a computer vision capability for human pose estimation — better than even that of Microsoft.

And we built it.

The intelligence driving dynamic hyper-personalized exercise prescription required an NLP-inspired, transformer-based deep learning model, not all that different from the now widely known ChatGPT — several years before anyone heard of ChatGPT.

And we built it.

These two unprecedented pillars, together, along with other patented and novel elements of UI/UX became the first Movement Operating System, Movement OS, which was designed to not only provide hyper-personalized fitness regimens, but all forms of exercise prescription and instruction, from physical therapy to sports performance.

I am remarkably proud of and grateful for the Altis team, which spanned continents and time zones, that brought this to life.

The journey was not easy, frequently painful, and wrought with many challenging world and life events for myself and our team, from the invasion of Ukraine to the passing of my wife.

So as this chapter closes, I can't help but pause, cry, and reflect on what for most is a simple headline in a press release, but for me, personally, encapsulates so much more than a business transaction.
