Instead of measuring a church by its attendance & budget, here’s another idea:
Let’s assess it by the quality of community life that disciples people to love well; a culture that equips individuals to have a 1st hand life w/God & a commitment to release people in their gifts.
Idols want increasingly more from us.
First, our attention.
Then, our affection.
Lastly, our allegiance.
All too often we nurture idols we should be destroying.
Someone with high character and high competency can do an unlimited amount of good to an unlimited amount of people.
Someone with high competency and low character can do an unlimited amount of harm to an unlimited amount of people.
Absolutley struck to the heart today reading the list of the Apostles Jesus chose. We know almost nothing about most of them. Its possible to be chosen by Jesus, build redemtpive history, and be unknown to the world. Recognition in heaven breaks the need for recognition on earth.
Two errors constantly seek to corrupt the message and steal away from us the power of the gospel. Moralism says that we have to live a holy, good life in order to be saved. Relativism/Fake Christianity says that because we are saved we don’t have to live a holy, good life.
@BethMooreLPM I guess everyone is disappointed that you have a sense of humor. I’m thankful for it in such a weary season. That fly though! We’re still laughing
