"This doesn't exist without turbopuffer. If we used a traditional search engine provider, our bill would be in the millions each year." - Justin Watts, Distinguished Engineer

Generational companies. Nearly "solved" their respective domain in a 10x better way than any of their predecessors. Each will get to 1B revenue minimum
FTS v2: up to 20x faster full-text search
turbopuffer is now on par with Tantivy and Lucene for many queries, more to come
v2 now in beta. 2 PRs away from all query plans being implemented. will be enabled in prod for all, shortly.
Building serverless vector search on top of object storage (like S3).
Fast and 10x cheaper. Pretty fascinating idea.
I talked with @turbopuffer CEO @Sirupsen about how they're pulling it off

Our May Top SaaS Vendors list is out now!
Several newcomers appeared this month, including the #1 vendor in new card spend, @turbopuffer — a search engine that helps companies efficiently find and retrieve information from their data to feed into AI systems.
I think @turbopuffer is a 100x better product over the S3 Vectors product that was announced today:
- TP APIs/DX is superb
- TP has traditional search capabilities
- TP is honest about recall (red flag for S3 Vector announcement)
TP has a cracked team, I wish them all success.
@HamelHusain and I are thinking about teaching a four-session, cohort-based course on LLM fine-tuning for data scientists and software engineers.
We set up this survey to gauge interest: https://t.co/EJ4ToThKo6
If you take the survey, we'll make sure you're the first to hear when enrollments open.
There's a lot of academic material out there on fine-tuning, but there's very little showing you how to succeed hands-on with the latest tools. We'll help you learn practical skills to fine-tune LLMs with Axolotl, evaluate results and build broader fine-tuning workflows.
