It was a fun update and brainstorming session on how to best tackle inflammatory drivers of the obesity-cancer connection. The science is great and the team is even better
Fantastic meeting in sunny Chicago with our trainees and investigators across sites to share recent updates in person with our @TheMarkFdn Endeavor Award team. Thanks to @JeffRathmell for hosting us at @UChicago in the beautiful Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery.
@FutureDrELF's (now actual Dr. Fisher-Gupta) thesis paper is out--We were working on Glutaminase for a while, but it looks like the opposite reaction and Glutamine Synthetase may be where the real action is to create a tumor-resilient T cell

Researchers led by Ludwig @Princeton's @lynchielydia have discovered that in obese people, who are at high risk for many cancers, a diet rich in animal fats—but not plant-derived fats—suppresses antitumor immunity and promotes cancer progression. https://t.co/lqSWyNFj5f
This was a labor of love requiring lots of teamwork over years, repeating in 3 locations! Thanks to all the lab over the years, giving their time generously to this team project, & our wonderful collaborators. The source of fat matters for anti-tumor immunity 🐄🐖🧈🌴🫒🥥
