Dearest gentle reader, we are delighted to announce a new story from our lab published in @Nature describing how a meal's systemic metabolic changes are interpreted by your immune system to enhance adaptive immunity. A thread 1/ https://t.co/zACqCLxDMU

Excited to have played a role in this study of how diet and lifestyle can play roles in toxicities from checkpoint blockers. A tour de force from the Overacre group; check it out!

[Overacre Lab @OveracreLab]

Very excited to share our latest paper, out today in Cell, led by @ItzDipyaman! This project started out with a curiosity as to how and why irAEs happen. Even more peculiar is that WT mice never develop irAEs…and why was that?

@MichaelLinLab In this era, and in science in general, we have to celebrate every “win”. Especially for younger faculty just trying to “make it”. Hell, at this point we celebrate grants even getting scored or papers going out for review. It’s such a slog otherwise.

Leaders of the House and Senate appropriations committees warned the White House not to impose new controls on how the NIH awards research grants.

Political officials are weighing the creation of a commission to review awards. https://t.co/4EazXRMDI4

@timisstuck I’d say 1-2 hours in literally writing, perhaps. But a ms usually needs more time for reading and evaluation?

We're sorry Western Michigan. NCAA Football Oversight Committee said if instant replay protocals at Michigan had been correctly followed, game's outcome would have been different.
But they can't overturn the result. Remains a Michigan victory

Vikings 12th man today.

@PGTimmune You're not wrong. And as a frequent user of B16, it pains me to say it. But it is a frankencell that poorly reproduces melanoma, and certainly does not predict efficacy of a therapy. HOWEVER, I would argue it is a decent model of T cell exhaustion and Treg cell stability.

@drugmonkeyblog @SGrivennikov My two cents: I don't know that 2-2-7 happens regular for necessarily "illegitimate" reasons. It may be that 7 fundamentally misunderstood some important part of the proposal that would have been rectified in discussion, but that proposal won't get that opportunity.

[Delgoffe Lab @DelgoffeLab]

@drugmonkeyblog Certainly happened in the old days. But much more common now. And 2-2-6 doesn’t go to 2-2-2 but generally the discussion might get to 2-2-4 and the SRG votes their conscience. Pulling up grants is harder now. Need to prove the initial 3 got it wrong.

The College Football Playoff has ruled to OVERRIDE Michigan’s win over WMU.

The committee announces the game will officially be scored 12-7 in favor of Western Michigan.

Historic 🤯

BREAKING: Western Michigan has submitted formal appeals to the NCAA FBS Oversight Committee and the College Football Playoff to be recognized as the winner of their game vs. Michigan.

The MAC commissioner states, “After further study and investigation, it is now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed in determining whether time remained.”

@zeta_globin I’ve got a biotech side gig trying to make antibodies/protein binders to desensitize immune cells to metabolites that may fuel them or poison them for autoimmunity or cancer, respectively. Seems like new biology. Venture is weird though.
