President Trump seems to think he can suspend the laws of the United States, of international trade, and of economics.
The American Congress and US courts will decide for themselves how they will address these violations of Presidential powers.
President Trump’s actions will hurt millions of Americans workers and all American consumers. And after promising to reduce inflation, his actions will send it and interest rates up.
In Canada, we understand the laws of economics. That’s why we will be masters of our own house in building the strongest economy in the G7.
I do not see how Trump can be allowed to come to the G7 in Canada in June.
Never mind that we don't generally let convicted felons enter the country: how on earth do we "welcome" on our soil someone who is committed to wiping us off the map?
I'm not sure there's much point in the G7 even meeting, frankly. Trump's America is no longer an ally of the democracies. That should now be clear. It may not even be a full-service democracy for long.
The agenda for the other members — call them the G6 — should now be figuring out how to contain it.
