15 years ago, I made the first commit to Homebrew, never imagining it would become one of the most widely used Open Source projects of all time. I dedicated myself full-time, unpaid (and often underappreciated), to brew.

I don’t think it would exist if I hadn’t.

I lived on beans-on-toast with the thermostat down low for months. The truth is not many can do that. And with over 90% of enterprises benefiting from the hard work of OSS developers who often contribute on a voluntary basis or for minimal financial return—something’s not right. This glaring issue leads to hindered innovation and a worrying lack of robustness and security at the base layer of the Internet. The developers who keep the Internet running need support.

As I reflect on these incredible years, I am immensely proud of what Homebrew has achieved. However, our current digital world rests on the shoulders of countless unseen heroes whose work fuels the technological backbones of major corporations without fair rewards. It's time for a new chapter where OSS developers are rightfully rewarded for their hard work and contributions.

Why?
- Postman: It's completely bloated by VC funding, a lot of unnecessary features that I never use, like Testing??? The app is heavy, take 2-3 seconds to load with a white background.
- Insomnia: It's the best app I've used, but now it's ruined after it was acquired by Kong. Recently, it removed all my local workspace and forced me to sign up in order to use the app
- Paw: It was great, but it's no longer maintained anymore.
