#new Gov. Newsom Complains Trump Is Targeting Him But Investigations Started During Biden Administration

Gov. Gavin Newsom is crying about being federally investigated, claiming President Trump is targeting him in a 'political hit job' tied to his potential presidential run.

However,  he forgot to mention that the investigations actually started during the Biden administration.

Whistleblower complaints prompted multiple federal investigations into Governor Newsom and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s taxes and nonprofit finances.

Those complaints were submitted to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento in  2024 - 2025 with the related political corruption investigations starting more than three years earlier in 2021 - (Which is during Biden era)

Here’s what Newsom had to say,

"Today, my wife & I joined Donald Trump’s hit list. He has directed his Department of Justice to investigate us. They have not found a crime — they are simply trying to find one.”

He said federal agents had knocked on doors of family, friends and former employees, subpoenaed records, and abused the grand jury process while digging through years of documents.

He accused Trump of coming after his wife Jennifer because Newsom is considering running for president and “hates that I consistently call him out.”

U.S. Attorney Eric Grant’s office (Sacramento) launched the investigations based on the local whistleblower complaints and not directives from Washington.

The investigations into the Newsoms’ finances and nonprofits were not initiated by the current Trump administration but grew from work already underway in the Eastern District during the Biden administration.

The Representation Project, the nonprofit Jennifer Siebel Newsom founded in 2011 is one of the focuses.

Her non-profit is contracted out through California public schools -  funded by taxpayer money through Gov. Newsom's office.

IRS filings show the nonprofit has paid Jennifer a salary  of about $1.8 million from 2011 through 2024.

Her for-profit company, Girls Club Entertainment LLC, has received separate payments of about $150,000  every year from the same nonprofit for fees, and film licensing.

Combined payments to her and her LLC from her non-profit - which is essentially funded with taxpayer dollars through her husband's office - is more than $3.7 million over that time period.

Executive pay is from 20% to 34% of the nonprofit’s total expenses

In addition, Jennifer's nonprofit has received substantial donations from corporations that lobby Gov. Newsom and hold major state contracts.

An investigation documented more than $800,000 from firms, including:

🔺️Pacific Gas & Electric:

Over $290,000 (2016–2018), while facing wildfire liability issues and benefiting from state legislation.

🔺️AT&T:

Over $185,000.

🔺️Kaiser Permanente:

Tens of thousands in sponsorships while securing hundreds of millions in state contracts.

🔺️Additional donors included Comcast, United Airlines, 23andMe, and California American Water.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom has pushed state spending initiatives that line up with her nonprofit’s work and films.

Public schools using her content and the flow of donations from state-connected firms create a documented pipeline where government-funded education policies, generate revenue that supports her salary and her private company’s revenue.

Former Newsom chief of staff Dana Williamson pleaded guilty on May 14, in federal court for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud, subscribing to a false tax return, and making false statements.

She admitted funneling $225,000 from a dormant campaign account of former Biden Health Secretary Xavier Becerra and claiming fraudulent expenses including a $15,000 Chanel bag, chartered jet, and a nearly $170,000 Mexico birthday trip.

The case stemmed from whistleblower complaints and has been referenced in the investigations into the Newsom's
