DeSantis obviously has advisors telling him to adopt a personality that isn’t natural for him. The awkward fake smiling is part of that. He needs to fire those idiots, whoever they are, and just be himself. He should have opened the debate last night by saying this:
“Hi, I’m Ron DeSantis. If you’re looking for Mr Personality or the homecoming king, I’m not your guy. If you want someone who makes interesting small talk, I’m not your guy. If you want a drinking buddy then you’re probably better off with one of these other candidates. But if you want a killer who simply gets the job done and cares about the boring stuff like policy and governance, I’m your guy.”
Why doesn’t he just say this, or something like it?
The Republican debates began with a question about why “Rich Men North of Richmond” was the #1 song.
By the end of the debate, every candidate became a rich man north of richmond, pledging support to Ukraine over a failing American—EXCEPT @VivekGRamaswamy.
That’s why he won.
That’s it. I’m out. Deactivating my account today. I can’t in good conscience use a platform that’s run by an evil billionaire. That’s why I’m sticking with Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Standing on my principles. #GoodByeTwitter
