Mark Russinovich talking about Azure: "...when you are running at the scale of order 10 million servers is that if it's a 1 in a million chance of happening ... that means it's happened ten times today". Wow
Failures happen. But resilience at cloud scale is designed for the assumption that hardware will fail. The question isn't whether components fail. It's whether your architecture assumed they wouldn't.

@jimdunaway He'll have to stop having to answer for them when/if he puts a product on the field that looks different than what we've been watching the last few years.
Years ago, Microsoft had a reputation of new products taking until v3 to find their footing. I've been thinking about that a lot as MS Copilot has struggled. Reading the latest announcements, I'm hoping this is "Copilot v3".
For Claude to expect us to edit the claude.json file to set up MCP servers - the schema is pretty bad. Keyed on folder names instead of a project element with a name property. And - case insensitive duplicate folders even in Windows.
@Claude in Chrome is basically unusable if you are logged into two computers at the same time with the same Google account. Claude Code session on computer 1. Claude tab appears in Chrome on computer 2. I tried to disable extension on Computer 2, but Google synchs this.
@burkeholland That was a nice little realization earlier today. Took me a minute to realize I was seeing "GPT 6 Luna" because I was expected to see "GPT 5.6 Luna".
The Endless Road documentary is being released. It's a story of a child guitar prodigy who dedicated his life to becoming the worldโs greatest acoustic guitar players and struggles he faced along the way.
Oct. 2, it will be available to rent/purchase on Amazon, Apple, and Google.
There's no way that the person who made the decision to turn the Azure App Service environment variables value input a "password" ever uses it. Every time I change a value - browser asks if I want to save that value in my saved passwords. About 5 clicks where 1 was sufficient.
I'm going to get called out for overreacting, but - Golesh is already on the hot seat. We don't need to see 3 years of the same thing we've been watching for years.
I've been primarily using the Claude Code CLI over the last month or so. Tried the app tonight (same model) and it feels like a different personality - tone of responses. It also seems dumber.
Claude has used the word "interstitial" twice in the last couple of days (in the context of a certificate problem error message). I've been a developer for over 30 years and I had never heard that term before. Just me?
Interesting to read the GitHub write-up of the outage event yesterday. VS Code bug (feature?) made it worse.
"Delayed replies to a single internal endpoint triggered a latent retry bug in VS Code that amplified traffic by approximately 10x..."

Claude in Chrome surprised me. Claude Code session reported 2 instances of Chrome and showed "Name this browser" page to identify.
The other Chrome instance that Claude was detecting was on another computer with extension and same account.
