Education is the key to opportunity, and no Jamaican student should be held back because of financial barriers. That’s why your government is committed to a major overhaul of the Student Loan Bureau (SLB) by September 2026.

We will increase loan amounts to cover not just tuition, but also housing, books, supplies, laptops, and even a meal stipend. We will also lower interest rates and extend repayment periods to make student loans more manageable.

New students will have 10 years instead of 7 or 5 to repay their loans.
