Dear New York Knicks,

I don’t even know how to write this.

Maybe because after 33 years, I never actually thought I’d have to.

Last night, somewhere between the final buzzer and the tears, it hit me.

The waiting is over.

I was born into this. There were times growing up when I honestly resented my dad for making me a Knicks fan. It would have been easier to pick someone else. Easier than the heartbreak. Easier than the collapses. Easier than spending year after year convincing myself that next season would finally be the season.

But that’s the thing about being a Knicks fan.

You don’t choose it.

It becomes part of who you are.

My childhood was built around this team.

It was taking the LIRR into Manhattan with my dad and walking toward Madison Square Garden believing anything was possible. It was the train rides home after another tough loss, talking about how close we were and what needed to happen next. It was walking down 31st Street after games, replaying every missed shot and every bad bounce, wondering what could have been.

As I got older, the LIRR became the Q train. The seasons changed. Life changed. But the hope never did.

No matter how many times our hearts got broken.

No matter how many seasons ended too soon.

No matter how ridiculous it felt to believe.

We always came back.

Because Knicks fans don’t root for a team.

We carry a story.

A story passed down from parents to children. A story measured in winters and playoff exits and impossible hope. A story that somehow survives every disappointment because deep down we believe one day it will all be worth it.

Last night, it was.

Every train ride.

Every walk down 31st Street.

Every conversation.

Every heartbreak.

Every “maybe next year.”

It all led here.

To this.

To being able to say the words I never thought I’d say:

The New York Knicks are NBA Champions.

Dad, thank you.

Thank you for making me a Knicks fan.

Thank you for every game, every trip into the city, every memory we made inside that building. As a kid, I never realized how lucky I was to have those moments with you.

Now I do.

And standing here today, through tears I never expected to cry, I wouldn’t trade a single second of the journey.

Not the losses.

Not the heartbreak.

Not the waiting.

Because the waiting made this feel impossible.

And that’s why this feels perfect.

We did it.

After 33 years, we finally did it.

The New York Knicks are NBA Champions.
