My First Degree was in Medicine. Forced into it by my Father who wanted nothing else. My Mum passed away when I was 14 years so basically His Word was final.
I wanted to pursue Bachelors in Pure Ecomomics or a degree in Music from Kenyatta University.
Mzee told me He would chase me home if I ever did such a thing !
So I did Medicine at UoN.Ward Rounds just weren't my thing ,disecting dead bodies at the morgue were a waste of Time for me. Medicine revolves around alot of cramming ! I revolted after graduation. Signed up for Bachelors of Arts at main campus on a parallel programme. I schooled with former police spokesman Owino, Cyrus oguna & the Current Chief of defence forces Ogolla. Political science classes in the evenings & on saturdays. Lecturers were Prof.Nyinguro, Owuoche, Katumanga, Some lady who spoke lots of French & taught International Relations .
After graduating life happened. Life .It hit me so hard I felt like going back to medicine but I just wasn't going to give up easily.
I sell cars now. I know of Guys I went with in Med school who are full time drug addicts now while others made it because they committed to it.
Positioning yourself strategically & not giving up is the Key.
Long story cut short, it is the soft skills in life that will make you cut through in this life. Everyone has the hard skills but not the soft skills.
