With recent deliveries to Hawaii and Alaska, all 50 U.S. states have now received at least one truckload of food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of its nationwide effort to distribute 250 truckloads to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary.

From Barcelona to Bangkok, Tokyo to Tampa, and Santiago to Sydney, the 2025 Light the World Giving Machine kiosks gave people everywhere a unique and memorable way to follow Jesus Christ’s invitation to “love thy neighbor” (Matthew 22:39).

Beginning in mid-November 2025 and running through the first week of January 2026, nearly 1 million people visited Giving Machine kiosks in 126 cities across 21 countries on six continents. During that time, approximately 4.7 million items were purchased. In the coming months, each will be delivered to individuals in need — whether they live across the street or around the world.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the official portrait of the new First Presidency. A picture of President Oaks has also been released.

President Dallin H. Oaks (@OaksDallinH) was announced as the 18th president and prophet of the Church on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. During a live broadcast, he named President Henry B. Eyring (@EyringHB) and President D. Todd Christofferson (@ChristoffDTodd) his First and Second Counselors.

It was also noted that President Jeffrey R. Holland (@HollandJeffreyR) would serve as the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

When the @BYU Cougars football team travels for games, it turns competition into collaboration to help those in need.

The most recent example came October 11, 2025, on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson. The pregame party included service spearheaded by the local BYU alumni chapter and others. Their focus was giving to the local community. Fans from both teams participated in a “read and feed” service project, donating food and books to support Sunnyside Elementary School and the Sunnyside Community Food Pantry. The service went beyond boxes of books and canned goods. Earlier in the week, a semitruck from the Church delivered 40,000 pounds of food to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
 
“We don’t call these things a party with a purpose for no reason,” said BYU President Shane Reese.

Our hearts are heavy with sorrow. Millions of us are mourning the passing of our beloved Prophet and President, Russell M. Nelson. He was a dear friend and a cherished leader. 

His timeless teachings continue to guide us and help us find comfort amid suffering, especially in the wake of the recent violence aimed at members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan this past Sunday.

The awful tragedy that took place in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on September 28, reminds us of our sacred responsibilities as followers of Jesus Christ. We mourn with our members who have lost loved ones, and we join in prayer for comfort with others around the world who are suffering from similar tragedies.

We all seek answers and understanding in the wake of trauma, shock, and grief. We are grateful to all who are reaching out with service, prayers, and words of support during this difficult time.

May we all remember the truth that each of us is a beloved child of God. Our Savior Jesus Christ, through His infinite Atonement, overcame death and gives us the joyful assurance that each of us will be gloriously resurrected.

On behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I extend this expression to the family and friends of those affected by this recent tragedy and all others who may be experiencing loss and heartache at this time.
