Great Blue Herron up very close. I would spend hours in a camo enclosed shroud with only my lens showing. They would walk around me for hours eating and doing their business. On this occasion the bird was so close he completely filled my frame.

I was sitting on our Morningside Heights roofdeck with my camera when suddenly this American Kestrel flew by, practically at eye level. It made a quick turn and stared right at me before flying off. What a view of its gorgeous feathers in flight! #birdcpp

A firm favourite and much wanted bird from Big Island (Hawaii Island) was the critically endangered Palila. At one point I had eight of these critically endangered honeycreepers in a bush high up a slope, right infront of me with more calling around me. Great birds!

The "fun" thing about Nighthawks is that they are most active at night or dawn. That makes it really hard to get a decent shot. Still I am thrilled to have captured my first Common Nighthawk crappy as the shot is.
