Hi! I’m Ginger Sykes Torres!
I’m a mom and experienced environmental professional & climate leader, working to become Arizona’s first-ever Native American representative in Congress by flipping a red seat to blue.
Can you RT and help me get to 5k followers? ❤️ 🌏
Here is a fun tiktok tidbit featuring the opinion piece @rio_rica2 and I published in the @ColoradoSun a few weeks ago. I appreciate that #climate#water and #coriver are taking up space in this forum. Cheers!

"Water droplets have traveled these paths since time immemorial and we need a system that honors this journey and the people and ecosystems encountered along the way."
-Fulton/Pelz
The final sentence of new IPCC report:
"The scientific evidence is unequivocal: climate change is a threat to human well-being and the health of the planet.
Any further delay in concerted global action will miss a brief and rapidly closing window to secure a liveable future."
@PilgrimsPlaces@CoyoteGulch I totally get it and am not asking everyone to do all the things. My point was to wake those resistant to change (to taking bold action to slow the climate crisis and to imagine a different equitable water future), not to tell folks to work harder :) I am all in @TheNapMinistry
It is confusing why we all aren't fighting with every fiber of our being to stop "humanity's heating of the planet" and to make swift and thoughtful reform of western water policy to #protectwhatyoulove#livingrivers#waterislife
The extreme dryness that has ravaged the American West for more than two decades now ranks as the driest 22-year period in at least 1,200 years. Scientists have found that the megadrought is being supercharged by humanity's heating of the planet. https://t.co/nNrjHjgZLu
This struck a cord with me--way to disempower the next generation. In 2019, @LauraPaskus noted 20 men served as state engineer in 119 years, which is now 21 in 122. This is how powerful institutions persist & work against equity, justice, diversity and inclusion.
I'm a @UNMwater grad student, and anyone who knows me knows how much I love this incredible program.
Because of the loyalty I feel to it, I'm going to take some time here to communicate my disappointment in a public stance our new leadership has taken. #nmwater

@annalisemporter I agree. I have been working in this field as biologist and lawyer for 20 years. I am told by male engineers all the time that I don't understand the system. I just have a different perspective that threatens the system they have built. If you need an ally, please reach out.
"I’ve always been opposed to any inter-basin transfer that does not sign off at the local level on both sides." -@GovofCO This is great news! We look forward to you fighting to stop the unsupported diversions from the San Luis & Homestake valleys.

We'd like to reach 1,000 followers by the end of the month. Can you help us get there with a retweet? We hope with more followers we'll be able to get the word out when we need support in pursuit of our federal recognition. Your allyship is vital.
