respectfully, this isn’t something worth dwelling on. you want your OB/surgeon to communicate clearly with the team when operating. C-sections are obv unique surgeries where the patient is awake but that verbal communication is often needed
My wife still talks about something she overheard in the delivery room when our first child was born, and honestly, it's a good reminder that doctors should maybe remember their patients are awake.
She had to have an emergency C-section. Everything was moving fast, but she was conscious the whole time. The anesthesia had her numb from the chest down, but her hearing was crystal clear.
At one point, she heard one of the surgeons say to the resident: "Alright, I'm gonna pull the bladder forward so we can get a clean view of the lower segment."
My wife's eyes went wide. She looked at me and whispered, "Did he just say he's moving my bladder?"
I had no idea what to say. I just squeezed her hand and said, "Let's just… not think about it."
To this day, she says she didn't need to know that. She's not squeamish, she's a tough woman, but there's a difference between "aware of the process" and "hearing your organs discussed like furniture being rearranged."
The surgery went perfectly, Our daughter was healthy, But my wife jokes that she could have lived her whole life without knowing her bladder was "relocated" like a couch during spring cleaning.
I get that doctors do this every day and it's completely routine to them. But maybe a little situational awareness wouldn't hurt. The patient is right there, wide awake, and probably doesn't need the play by play narration of their internal anatomy getting shuffled around.
Medical professionals are heroes. But a little bedside manner goes a long way when someone's lying on a table trying not to imagine what's happening below the curtain.

Con este lema, un mural móvil recorrió las calles de Los Ángeles y Tijuana para alentar a las selecciones iraní y mexicana.
At the end of this Mayim Bialik says her sons ask her “Well when was the last time you posted you care about Palestinians?” and I love knowing that zionist parents all around the country have kids who don’t buy into their fascist bullshit
Yup, because they know what they are doing is wrong and they do it anyway. Same with Obama who was literally a student of Edward Said at Columbia, ate with him at his family's table, and still gave an additional 3 billion to Israel when he was President.
tried to be a #younghoe and book a flight on my phone. couldn’t do it. almost immediately went to get my laptop. millennials were right about that one unfortunately
aside from the very obvious issues with how “leftists” on here are talking about Islam and religion and faith right now in general
it’s truly so short-sighted (stupid) to think you can galvanize people / the masses to act while excluding people of faith from your movements
Black people were BLACKLISTED and MURDERED for being socialists/communists! Socialism is an integral foundational component of black liberation movements in the us.
